History: Early settlement by Portuguese seafarers
four centuries ago; occupied by Portugal in 1849; on December 20,
1999 established as the Special Administrative Region of Macau of
China after Chinese government resumed the exercise of sovereignty
over the territory

Climate: Macau's climate is moderately hot,
with an average annual temperature of just over 20Cº. The
humidity level is high averaging between 73% and 90% humidity. Rainfall
is also high. The average yearly total is between 40 and 80 inches.
The best season to visit is autumn (October-December).
